Going into today the Mets are 30-20 in Opening Day baseball, very comfortably over .500.
We have faced the Braves of Atlanta 3 times on past Opening Day's and have another winning record of 2-1. Those games were:
April 15, 1966 - The starting pitcher was Jack Fisher and the Mets lost 2-3.
April 9, 2011 - The starting pitcher was Kevin Appier and the Mets killed the braves 9-4. Mike Piazza went 3 for 4 that day with two homers and 5 RBI.
April 12, 2004 - The starting pitcher was Steve Trachsel and the Mets won 10-6.
Addendum - April 5, 2012 - The starting pitcher was Johan Santana and the Mets won 1-0!!!!!!
