Astros to the AL

MLB.com just reported that the sale of The Houston Astros has been finalized and they will join the American League as soon as 2013.

Does this officially make the Al West into a super bad division? Basically the opposite of the AL east super division? The A's are my AL team so this is certainly good news for them.

Our class of 1962 pledge brothers have finally made the long expected move to the other side. For baseball this is a great idea. It evens up the leagues and makes the NL central and Al west even again and also puts Houston in the same division as their rival Texas Rangers. But how does this affect the Mets? Well for one we don't get to play the Astros as much, who as one of the six NL teams that finished 2011 worse than the Mets could usually be counted on a for a few wins.

Through the years the Mets and 'Stros and have many great mathups incvluding the classic 1986 NLCS. It will be interesting to see how the move affects the team and the leauge as a whole, hopefully for the better.

Adieu Houston, see you in inter-league.

  1. I am very dissapointed that our pledge brothers the Stros, who have 50 years of history in the NL, were forced to move, yet the d'backs, moved been in existence for all of 15 years, get to stay in the NL. Why not move the d'backs?
