Jose Reyes is a Florida Marlin

Sounds weird right?

My gut reaction is that this is the right move. Right now the deal is reported as 6 years 111 million dollars. Does anyone think that what the Mets need right now was another long term, big money contract? This is a rebuilding team and Jose doesn't fit into that. At the end of the day the Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Santana corps had it's chance and they failed and it's to stop pretending those guys were the future and focus on a building a new team that can win.

The other thing is that right now, Reyes looks great. He came off a batting title season where his offense was at an elite level. Let's not forget that the last three seasons he played 36, 133 and 126 games respectively. Let's not forget the long dry streaks and the lazy defense. Jose may go on to play six great seasons for the Marlins but he may play six injured, incinsistent seasons too. Thats a gamble the Mets didn't need to take.

The thing I will miss most about Reyes? The old "learn spanish" with Jose segments on diamond vision, those were always my favorite...
