Mets trade Angel Pagan, acquire two guys I have never heard of. Also sign entirety of Bluejays bullpen.

I will have more thoughts to follow but let's start with this one...why?

Seriously, I feel like I am in the bizzaro world. Up is down and down is up.

We signed Frank Francisco to a two year...wait for it...12 million dollar deal. Who seriously believes that he is worth 6 millions dollars a year.

We also traded Angel Pagan, a pretty damn good centerfielder and offensive threat who had one bad year for Andres Torres who batted .221 last year posting a mind boggling 95 strike outs and only 77 hits. He struck out more than he reached base. Where is the logic in this? Also let's not forget that he is 33. Angel Pagan had the worst year of his life last year and still played more games and batted over 40 points better than Torres.

This is just plain bad. Pagan had to be worth at least a prospect or two that could help the team in the long run. To trade him for a miserably bad outfielder and an old crappy reliever is just a joke. The Marlins add Jose Reyes, Heath Bell and are hunting the best player of our generation. The Phillies sign an elite closer. The Mets? Why of course they sign three old relievers...this is going to be a long year. I understand the Mets are not in a position to sign big name free agents now and I don't want them to, but I would like to see them sign some guys who can be productive in the long term. Do they not understand what rebuilding year means?

Look for stats and analysis on our new teammates tomorrow...
